The event, which raised £13,000 this year, is organised to support the Burns Camps charity, which runs summer camps at Grafham Water for young burns survivors.

There were six teams, one ladies, one mens and one mixed from The Cambridgeshire Hunter pub, The Hare & Hounds pub, The Bell at Great Paxton and Sealed Air Limited pulled the fire engine over a route of four Miles.

Organiser, Dave Webster, said: “The good weather ensured the crowds came out in force, supporting the pull the whole length of the journey. The money raised came mainly from sponsorship for the teams pulling, however with the day’s fun continuing at the Cambridgeshire Hunter pub in Eynesbury, where there were lots of other things going on including a raffle and an auction the £13,000 mark was hit.

He continued: “This is the 13th year we have held this event and it never ceases to amaze me the generosity of local people considering the current economic climate. This was a fantastic amount of money to raise and we would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to what turned out to be another successful event. I would also like to thank Steve Wills for all of his help and support in organising the event. With his mind already starting to think about next year’s event.”
