More than 100 jobs have been lost at a Huntingdon factory.
Inkjet manufacturer Xaar announced in October that it was to cut a fifth of its 800-strong UK workforce after a downturn in the construction industry in China meant less demand for ceramic tiles printed with its products.
The firm has made 160 workers redundant, including 120 from the Huntingdon site in Ermine Business Park. The other 40 were lost at Xaar’s Cambridge headquarters.
Alex Bevis, finance director, said: “As anticipated we have reduced the headcount by 160 roles including 120 from the Huntingdon site. The majority – more than 80 per cent – of the role reductions were completed in November through a combination of both compulsory and voluntary redundancies. The remaining changes will be completed by the end of the year.”
