ARE you aware that Huntingdonshire District Council allows only six months £0 banding for Council Tax on a deceased person's property?

Few executors can obtain probate and sell a property in this time frame, so HDC is claiming hundreds of pounds from deceased people.

Since her death my mother has paid £1,000 in Council Tax. I would like HDC to tell me what services they have provided for this extortionate sum.

This Council Tax demand by HDC is disgusting, disrespectful and motivated by sheer greed.

Editor's note - HDC says the zero Council Tax rate applies for up to six months after grant of Probate, which should be adequate time for a property to be sold. The council would not comment on individual cases but pointed out that it was a property tax that helped to fund services, some of which are provided even to empty properties.
