FIRSTLY can I thank all those who put their trust in me on the day of the General Election.

The campaign was a great learning curve and I would also like to thank all those who received me so warmly on the doorstep and shared their stories and concerns with me. I would also like to thank my agent, Mike Gough, and all those who supported and worked for the campaign. I now have to take stock and see where I go from here.

What was truly remarkable is that in a very complicated and difficult election, when the country is in a massive financial mess and we are in a war that we seem unable to get out of, 1432 people voted against the privatisation of Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

I invite the SHA to take note of this. I would also like to mention that amongst all the many people I met on the campaign trail, I think I found maybe five people that actually supported this process. The vast majority were totally against it.

In light of this I would urge the SHA to have the courage to stop the process, which I am told is costing over 1million.
