NOW I'm retired, I decided to take my brother to the races at Brampton. He is 72 and had never been to the races before. We got there early at 1.15pm so I could tell him about racing. There was a cold wind so we went and got a hot drink. On returning, we were standing behind the wall in the stand out of the wind, and was told you can't drink there.
After the second race, I went to have a bet. I came back to find my brother had been told he could not eat one bag of crisps in the stand, even though we had a carrier bag with us to put empty bits in.
There are no signs saying "no drink, no food". I've been coming to Brampton for years, but not again - £13 each for such a poor afternoon out. After two races, we went home.
