FINDING time for a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, but a campaign by The Hunts Post and Huntingdonshire District Council is proving life in the gym is not as hard as it first seems.
Gloria Bramham seized the chance to keep in shape at Ramsey Impressions fitness centre after winning six months' free membership in a Hunts Post competition.
The 63-year-old has found the experience has not only making her healthier, but has also changed some of her eating habits.
"I try to go at least twice a week," she said. "I sometimes go three times, but having the grandsons around can make it difficult."
After the induction at the beginning of June, Gloria started regular sessions at the gym. Aided by the "very friendly" staff and a workout routine that is updated every four weeks, she often exercises while listening to music or watching television.
The state-of-art Technogym Wellness even gives Gloria details on her progress and personalised fitness regime.
While she prefers to use the rowing machines, steppers and treadmills, not every aspect of the regime requires the latest technology.
"Some of the things are 'free' things to do where you don't need any equipment. You can do it on your own or with a ball, for example."
Impressions Fitness Suite users can ask for their routine to be adapted and changed to suit their tastes and ability.
The regular exercise at the fitness centre has had an effect on Gloria's lifestyle and diet.
She added: "I drink more water now, which I didn't do before. I also don't drink as much coffee and eat no chocolate."
Gloria normally works out for about an hour, and also attends Aquafit sessions. After two months of exercising, she told The Hunts Post: "I've changed shape. I've probably lost about half a stone. I've definitely toned up - I can tell by what I wear."
