At £1.50 per day it is already costing close to £30 a month to park - if you are lucky enough to find a space. Now HDC is talking of increasing it to £3 a day, and then £6. I realise it wants to force everyone onto public transport. Unfortunately that is not possible for a lot of us.

I live 20 miles away and currently spend almost two hours a day in my car. If I get the bus, that will increase to three hours a day. If I get the train, I have to go all the way to Peterborough to get the train back to Huntingdon.

It seems to me that HDC thinks people will just keep paying and paying, regardless of what it charges. I - and a lot of those I work with - ride-share wherever possible, but it isn't enough. The council just sees it as a quick and easy way to make money. Maybe when Huntingdon becomes a ghost town, it might see it differently.
