THE highlight of Huntingdonshire music calendar – the Secret Garden Party (SGP) – is back this summer with more bands, more entertainment and more imagination than ever before.

The latest bands to confirm they will be playing at what is recognised as one of the best small festivals in the country – now in its 10th year – has just been announced.

And to mark the occasion The Hunts Post has teamed up with the organisers to give away a pair of weekend tickets for the festival (under 12s go free, so it’s ideal for families), which takes place at Abbots Ripton from July 19 to 22.

The latest established and up and coming acts to confirm their attendance at the SGP include Tim Minchin, Lamb, Caravan Palace, Alabama Shakes and Charlene Soraia, along with Ethan Ash, Ryan Keen and Utah Saints.

They will be joined over the weekend, which this year has the theme Standing on Ceremony, by Orbital, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, KT Tunstall, and the Jim Jones Revue, among many others.

Away from the music stages and tents, expect a wide array of entertainment, culture, art, games, fun, workshops, rides and education. The Fo:rem, the SGP’s popular intellectual platform, has announced some top names in the fields of science, philosophy, technology and literature will be attending, including Jamie Catto, Robin Ince, Josie Long, Aleks Krotoski, Chris Hatherill, Ann Daniels and Benjamin Morris.

For shear silliness, the SGP will once again feature entertainment in its ‘Never Ever Land Theatre’ and ‘Nocturnium for Lost Children’.

And young festival-goers are not forgotten as there will be theatre workshops, circus skills, the candy floss olympics and other crazy games at Kids Camp.

Expect the unexpected, but also expect a unique weekend of fun and music, where fancy dress is the norm among the paying public.
