WE always knew that free swimming was too good to last. But why such a big increase in the reinstated charge?

WE always knew that free swimming was too good to last. But why such a big increase in the reinstated charge?

Before free swimming for over-60s was introduced we were paying £2.20.Now it would appear that we are being asked to pay back some of the cost at £3.20 a session.

It is not only a question of cost but also of session allocation - one hour per week at Huntingdon is deemed enough to meet the needs of older people who need to swim for health reasons. In the past we had another session on a Friday afternoon but this has now become a public session.

While we understand the need for children to learn to swim, could someone take a hard look at the time available for public use and give us a fair share of pool time, perhaps three hours per week?

This might help us to stay out of the doctor’s waiting rooms, potentially costing even more in the long run
