MUCH discussion has occurred regarding the upgrade of the A14 from Cambridge to the A1. Most of these proposals include a swing south of the existing route. But we already have a route in this area, the A428.
Why are there no proposals to route north of St Ives and Huntingdon? A route starting from the Newmarket - Cambridge section swinging north of Longstanton, St Ives and joining the A1 at Alconbury would provide an alternative route for A14 traffic to and from the east of the country as well as access from local villages and towns to the north of Cambridge.
