LET us congratulate the chief constable on her OBE award and the good work she is doing in bringing down the crime statistics and solving the recruitment of police officers in the Huntingdon district. After years when the statistics were getting worse she has turned the situation around with what appears to be good management, which was not apparent in the past.

She is also improving the visibility of police officers in St Ives. This must be so, as last week I saw five police community support officers in Market Hill at 3.30 all at the same time. Who said you never see a policeman when you need one?
