AT a time when some folk are quick to criticise, I write to thank and congratulate Huntingdonshire District Council on its speedy and professional response to a problem.
On Wednesday, August 12, at around 3pm I telephoned HDC to report a large dying oak tree in the north corner of Priory Park, St Neots, which I could clearly see from my back garden.
The tree's leaves were brown and dead and the upper limbs (about 35ft off the ground) were rotting and could well fall in a strong wind. The tree posed a possible danger to people walking beneath and needed pollarding.
At 8am the next day a team of workmen arrived and a skilled tree surgeon climbed the tree, did the necessary pollarding and rendered the tree safe. So, hearty congratulations and thanks to all involved.
