AN investigation is under way into the death of a Lithuanian worker at an industrial unit in St Neots.

Vitalijus Orlovas, 29, was killed while unloading a container of glass at the Arken POP (point-of-purchase) site in Hawkesden Road on the morning of August 18.

The death has only just come to light but the Health and Safety Executive has confirmed an investigation is ongoing.

Arken POP, a signage and display company, lets 21,840 square feet of industrial space at the site near the town's train station.

Arken POP's customers include Comet, Kodak and Guinness. Its headquarters is in Newmarket and the St Neots site is an addition to its existing facility.

Arken managing director Tracy Scutt said: “Arken has been in operation for over 50 years and the health and safety of our employees is, and always has been, paramount in our daily activities.

“We are devastated that this tragic accident has occurred and our heartfelt sympathy goes to the friends and family of Vitalijus.

“We will assist the Health and Safety Executive fully in the course of its investigation.”
