LAST Sunday’s heavy rain means the eastbound carriageway of the A14 between Spittals and Godmanchester will have to be closed again overnight tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow.

The weather delayed the final stages of joint replacement work on the Ouse viaduct, River Ouse bridge and Cow Lane bridges. The work will involve closure between 10pm and 5am.

But they will not be the last closures. This weekend, the westbound carriageway will be closed between 10pm on Friday night and 5am on Monday morning to repair a large pothole.

The Highways Agency says clearly-signed westbound diversion routes will be in place from the Girton interchange (junction 31) via the A428 and the A1 northbound at St Neots, re-joining the A14 at Brampton Hut (junction 21).
