THE mayor of Godmanchester has presented the Huntingdon Volunteer Bureau with a cheque for £1,270.
Councillor Richard Butcher, who recently completed his second term as mayor, was a volunteer for many years and wanted to acknowledge the work of volunteers in the community.
The bureau recruits volunteers from the area and assigns them to organisations that need their help.
Cllr Butcher and his wife, Pat, raised the money through the Mayor's Ball and a charity quiz night.
Godmanchester Town Council and the bureau share another 25-year-old connection. The charity was founded in the same year that the council regained independence from Huntingdon.
