THE CHILDREN of Great Gidding now have a safe and secure place to play after the completion of a new adventure trail.
The trail, on the parish recreation field, was officially opened on Saturday by North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vera.
The village amenities committee bought 14 different pieces of play equipment, costing £4,500, through donations from local businesses and fundraising events.
Committee vice-chairman Steve Smith said: "Too many kids have nowhere to go these days and we felt it was important to give them updated facilities at the field."
Villagers installed the equipment which includes balance beams and a burma bridge. Donations came from The Earl Fitzwilliam Charitable Trust, Perkins Engines, News International Supply Co Ltd and Sainsbury's.
