UFO: unlike southern US, we have not all been abducted by aliens

CATHY Cracknell (Letters, April 19) is entitled to her opinion, and I wasn’t trying to argue with her, but the fact is that these were Chinese lanterns.
They are always sent up evenly spaced and will travel very quickly once high up due to the winds. Once they hit a stream of air they will move very quickly.
I really hope that someone like herself, who sounds intellectual, is not suggesting that these were aliens. Please don’t let this country turn into the southern states of America, where everybody claims they have been abducted
