CONGRATULATIONS to the Government on its apprenticeships review, which will provide many more young people with an opportunity to learn the key skills that employers value.
People in the Huntingdon area will be able to have fulfilling employment and Britain will be able to compete globally only if people are able to develop their skills to the fullest extent, and apprenticeships must surely be an important part of that.
I'm sure there will be some raised eyebrows at the diploma scheme agreed with McDonald's, Network Rail and the airline Flybe, but this enables employees to get full recognition for the skills they gain while working and encourages employers to train staff well.
I hope these schemes will develop and include support for many small businesses in being able to develop their staff.
