HAVING a gambling place with neon lights would spoil the market square. (Tirade against arcade, Hunts Post, January 10).

It has been mentioned that it would be nice to have a continental atmosphere on the square now that it is such a large open space. This can only be achieved by having cafes with outdoor seating. This is only possible on one side of the square as All Saint's Church is on one side, Woolworths and other shops on the other.

Now that 6 Market Hill in Huntingdon has become vacant it would be ideal for a good bar/restaurant with a seating area outside on non market days, rather than an amusement arcade.

Sadly, the views around Huntingdon have been spoilt by developments, the vista both ways along the High Street have changed.

The view towards St Mary's Church was lovely with the trees, especially when it was floodlit at night, now it is hidden.

Looking the other way towards All Saints and the square, the sky line is spoilt by the new building towering behind.

When looking at plans on paper it is not easy to imagine how they will affect the look of the area they are in, do not spoil another part of the town.
