WORK is due to start on the installation of an electronic touch-screen kiosk where Huntingdon's visitors and residents will be able to access tourist information.

The kiosk, similar to those already operating in St Ives and Ramsey, will be in St Benedict's Court, and incorporates the latest design and technological features. The Huntingdon kiosk will have two screens, one at a height for wheelchair and child users and another for other users.

The new kiosk will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and coincides with a number of changes in the way Huntingdonshire District Council delivers its tourism services. The tourist information centre in the foyer of the library in Princes Street closes on Saturday (September 30) but a tourism information service will continue at the council's Pathfinder House offices. Next June the council will open a temporary customer service centre before the permanent customer service centre is established as part of the Pathfinder House redevelopment.
