A man has been arrested following a blaze in a block of flats which saw three people rescued by firefighters.

The 46-year-old man has been questioned by police in relation to the fire in Park Lane, Godmanchester, which took place at 5.30pm on Tuesday, December 30.

The man has since been released on bail to return to Huntingdon police station on February 10.

Firefighters from St Ives, Huntingdon and Papworth entered the burning two-storey block of flats and rescued two men and one woman trapped inside.

The two men did not require hospital treatment but the woman was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon after suffering smoke inhalation.

A man who managed to escape the blaze before firefighters arrived was also taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.

The fire service has launched an investigation to try and discover the cause of the blaze.
