BEAT the New Year blues with fun for all the family in St Neots this week and next with a twisted version of Little Red Riding Hood at the town's Priory Centre.St Neots Players present the traditional pantomime by Ron Hall. The village of Little Twittering-in-the-Mud prepares for the visit of the evil Count Calamitous who rules over the local peasants. Meanwhile Prince Valient arrives in the village, disguised as a commoner in order to spend a week finding out how his father's subjects live. The sparks fly when the pair both fall for Little Red Riding Hood's sister Jill, who runs the local shop. Dolly Dishcloth, Simple Simon and the scheming Little Red Riding Hood, who is always trying to make a buck, add chaos to the fun. Little Red Riding Hood runs from Friday until Sunday this week and again next weekend from Friday, January 20, until Sunday 22. Brampton Amateur Panto Society present a hilarious production of Cinderella in the village from next weekend. The society - known as BAPS - is a group of panto-loving performers with madcap mayhem on their minds. In association with Brampton Choral Society, they bring the popular family fairytale of Cinderella to the stage. Directed by Rosalie Loakes, this adaptation by Tony Vaughn of the classic fairytale features all the usual characters like the beautiful Cinderella, her best friend Buttons, her evil stepmother and her extremely ugly sisters, Apricot and Bakewell. However, add to the mix some extremely suspect characters like makeover queen Vymura Quickfix, the officious yet lecherous Justice Fingers and a right pair of old cobblers - and you have a recipe for comic chaos.
