TWO-pence coins were thrown up in the air for children to catch at the start of the annual St Ives Michaelmas Fair on Monday.
The money was part of the traditional autumn fun in the town. The Mayor of St Ives, Councillor Deborah Reynolds, opened the fair in The Broadway after a procession with her councillors from St Ives Town Hall.
Each year the St Ives infants and junior schools are asked if pupils can leave school early so they can be at the ceremony and receive the two pence pieces distributed by the mayor and members of the council.
