There are a number of different varieties of poker, including Stud and Omaha, but by far the most popular is Texas Hold 'Em - rules below. Each player is dealt two cards, face down. Players in turn decide whether to place a bet, match a previous bet or fold their cards altogether. After a round of betting, if two or more players are still in the hand, three shared cards are dealt face up on the table. These cards remain on the table and can be used by any player as part of their hand. After another round of betting, a fourth card is dealt face up on the table. There is then one more round of betting before the fifth and final card is dealt face up. A final round of betting is held, before all remaining players turn over their cards to show who has the strongest hand. Players must form the best possible hand of five cards, using any combination of the two cards they hold and the five on the table. The best hand in Texas Hold 'Em is the Royal Flush - Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 of the same suit.
