A vicar has been left saddened after his temporary place of worship was attacked by vandals.

A 2ft wooden cross was knocked off the Ark in Jevons Lane, Great Cambourne, when vandals struck between 3pm and 7pm on Monday (November 3).

The building is used as a temporary church and pre-school.

Guttering and timber was also broken off the building, a child's tricycle was damaged and metal piping was thrown into a children's sandpit.

Cambourne Reverend Peter Wood said: "It is very sad. They must have been running across the roof to cause that much damage to the guttering."

He added: "It is the first time this has happened and we would urge members of the public to keep their eyes and ears open and to come forward if they know who is responsible."
