CAMBRIDGESHIRE County Council's £2.5m Amundsen House telephone contact centre at St Ives will be officially opened by chairman, Councillor Susan Normington on Monday.
Staff in the new building, next to Speke House, the existing Cambridgeshire Direct Contact Centre in the Compass Point Business Park, began answering calls at the end of last year, providing information on the range of services provided by the county council, as well as Huntingdonshire District Council and South Cambridgshire District Council.
Council director of customer service Pat Harding said: "Cambridgeshire Direct has been very successful and demand for information, support and services has consistently exceeded expectations. We needed to expand the facilities to ensure we could handle the increasing number of calls.
