A KARTING track has temporarily closed after a teenage girl got her scarf caught in a kart and strangled herself.
The 18-year-old is believed to have been one of a group of people invited to Cambridgeshire Raceway in Royston Road, Caxton, by a member of staff after hours.
An ambulance and police were called to the scene at about 9.40pm on Thursday.
The woman had suffered a severe injury to her neck and was unconscious. She was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge but died the next day.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said officers were working with South Cambridgeshire District Council to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The track has been temporarily closed.
