I don't see what they would have done to V Harper-Wilkinson's PC in order to need to install everything again. All that is needed to do is lock it down correctly. Windows XP has a built in firewall. Although not 100 per cent, it is a start.

If you are on broadband you should purchase something like McAfee Internet Security Suite (£15 from amazon.co.uk). Use this with the built-in XP firewall and there should be no further problems.
