ST Neots Town Council is considering adapting a pre-school into the plans for the Eatons Community Centre to help secure the additional funding needed for the project.
The town council is discussing the idea partly because it is £250,000 short of the £750,000 needed to fund the project after Cambridgeshire County Council withdrew its financial support for the community centre in favour of a children's centre in the Eatons. It is thought the location for the children's centre has not yet been finalised by the county council.
Other ideas mentioned by the town council to help fund the community centre include applying for a grant from the Lottery Community Halls Fund or scrapping a portion of the building to reduce the cost of the project.
