TWO men have been sentenced to a total of 12 years in jail after several kilos of class A and B drugs were discovered at a property in St Neots.

William Chalkley, 25, of Kings Road, Eaton Socon and Bill Wigley, 27 of Buckden Hill, Buckden, admitted drugs offences at Huntingdon Crown Court on Thursday, December 3.

Chalkley and Wigley both pleaded guilty to production of amphetamine, conspiracy to supply amphetamine and conspiracy to supply cocaine.

On Tuesday (December 15) Chalkley was sentenced to seven years and Wigley was sentenced to five years at Huntingdon Crown Court.

On Monday, February 2, 2009 police assisted bailiffs to gain entry to a property in Brampton Gardens in order to serve an eviction notice.

At that time the tenant was in rent arrears but it was later discovered that he had sublet the property to someone else.

Once inside police discovered a concoction of drugs including 40,000 worth of amphetamine, 1600 worth of cocaine, 130 worth of herbal cannabis, several thousand pills of Kamagra (a copy version of Viagra), three kilos of Benzocaine (a local anaesthetic used to cut cocaine), 10 kilos of Boric acid (used to cut cocaine).

Also discovered was a military smoke grenade and a stun gun capable of delivering a shock of up to 800,000 volts (police tasers deliver 50,000 volts).

Police later recovered further items from Wigley's home address including a stolen JCB digger, a quantity of cannabis, steroids and a police style baton.

Officers also recovered digital scales covered with traces of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis at Chalkley's home address in Kings Road, Eaton Socon.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mead said: "The sentences handed down at court conclude a complex and challenging investigation into a significant drugs enterprise operating within St Neots.

"Those convicted were involved in the supply of both class A and class B drugs in significant quantities.

"This operation has without doubt disrupted a significant criminal enterprise and the message to anyone thinking of trying to fill the gap left behind is clear - don't or you will be next and the prison sentences will be yours."

Following the discovery at Brampton Gardens two men and a woman were also charged with firearms offences.

Tony Chalkley, 48, Shani Carter, 38, and Thomas Roberts, 21, pleaded guilty to firearms offences at Huntingdon Crown Court on November 25.

Tony Chalkley of Kings Road, Eaton Socon pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm without a licence and to possessing an air weapon and ammunition despite being banned for life from owning one.

He was sentenced at Huntingdon Crown Court on November 25 to 18 months in prison.

Roberts, of Buckden Hill, Buckden and Carter, of Kings Road, Eaton Socon, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a licence.

Carter was sentenced to 250 hours unpaid work and Roberts was fined 150.
