A PARTY in the park or an outdoor theatre production could take place in St Neots this summer, replacing the town's carnival.
At the first meeting of the town's new carnival committee it was decided that due to time constraints it would not be possible to stage a full scale carnival.
The alternative event would be held in July or August at the Riverside Park or the Market Square and could include a funfair, classic car show, food stalls, a river parade and fireworks.
The town's deputy mayor and vice chair of the carnival committee, Cllr Fiona Birks, said: "We still want something to take place in the town this summer but we need help to make this happen. Anyone who can spare a few hours a week should contact me."
INFORMATION: The next committee meeting is Monday (March 17) at the Priory Centre in St Neots at 7.30pm. Any bands wanting to take part or any businesses wanting to sponsor ishould contact Cllr Birks on 07817316543 or e-mail filoubirks@yahoo.co.uk
