MORE than 100 new homes in St Ives are set to take a step closer to reality next week.
Huntingdonshire District Council's development management panel is recommended to approve details of landscaping, layout and scale of the Taylor Wimpey development of 102 homes on land adjacent to Orchard House, on Houghton Road.
The development was given outline planning consent in July 2007, which included an obligation to provide 29 per cent of the homes for affordable housing and for the developers to contribute to the costs of bus services and highway improvements.
St Ives Town Council backs the application, but Houghton and Wyton Parish Council is urging refusal because of 'infrastructure overload' and the erosion of the green space between St Ives and Houghton.
