A SPALDWICK man, a semi-professional Thai boxer, escaped a driving ban last week so he and his 10-year-old son could continue their sporting activities. The boy has already come to the attention of Norwich City FC, plays football for Buckden and Huntingdon Rowdies, and is an accomplished Thai boxer, solicitor David Potter told Huntingdon Magistrates' Court. The father, Marcus Delamare, 35, of Burton Way, who has sole custody of his son, faced a six-month ban after doing 96mph on the A14 at Ellington. They travel six days a week as far as London, the West Midlands and the north of England, Mr Potter said and no one else could take the boy to school. Also, Delamare's employer, would suffer loss of income. The 11 existing points on Delamare's licence were five for a speeding offence in August 2004 and six when he failed to renew his insurance in December that year, the court heard. Delemare was fined £200 with a further five penalty points on his licence and ordered to pay £35 towards prosecution costs.
