THE leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council and his deputy have survived a vote of no confidence after a failed bid to transfer the council's housing stock.
Opposition members at South Cambridgeshire District Council had called for leader Ray Manning and deputy Simon Edwards to resign at an extraordinary meeting of the council on Thursday, June 18.
Both councillors were criticised after spending about �800,000 on a project to invite council tenants to vote on the transfer their homes to a housing association - only for tenants to vote against it.
Both Cllr Manning and Cllr Edwards survived the motion of no confidence with 27 voting against it and 22 in favour.
Cllr Manning told The Hunts Post the calls for the resignations were 'absurd' and were just the Liberal Democrats 'playing politics'.
