CHILDREN from a Somersham nursery raised more than £1,200 for disadvantaged young people by toddling around an obstacle course. A total of 63 children from Silks Farm Nursery School each walked half a mile to raise money for the children's charity Barnardo's. Nigel Swaby, director of the nursery, said: "This event was very popular and thanks to staff, parents and their friends, the nursery has raised in excess of £1,200 so far. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who gave generously and provided their support." The children went down slides, crawled through tunnels, balanced on beams and practised their throwing by trying to land bean bags in the middle of hoops. After the 45-minute event the children enjoyed a picnic and received stickers, hats and certificates from Barnardo's. The annual Big Toddle is the largest pre-school charity event in the UK. In 2005 more than £1million was raised by 120,000 Big Toddles.
