BUSINESSES in Huntingdonshire are being urged to review their security arrangements after a skip full of metal was stolen from outside an office.

The theft took place sometime between 6.15pm on Friday, August 24 and 6.30am on Tuesday, August 28 in Blackstone Road, Huntingdon.

The skip is grey with the name EASCO stencilled on the side and was full of mild steel.

Trevor Bracken, from the community safety unit, said: "There has been a high number of metal thefts in recent months so we are urging people to be extra vigilant.

"To lift a loaded skip would have required a special skip lorry or a vehicle equipped with a lifting crane so we are asking people to come forward if they remember seeing a vehicle fitting this description in the area.

"Often thefts of this nature occur following visits from people enquiring about scrap metal and I would urge anyone receiving such a visit to record the number plate and details of any vehicles involved.

"Additionally, review your security arrangements and try to avoid leaving metal outside."
