I READ with interest the letter from Ann Lewington (September 27) about children crossing Houghton Road to St Ivo School.
I am wondering if history is going to repeat itself and a child will be knocked down, hurt, maimed or, like my son Darren Hall, killed. Twenty-one years ago he was knocked down on the Houghton Road and died. No lollipop lady was present that day, either.
My son should now be aged 33, but lived to be only 12. The crossing was actually put in after weeks and weeks of fighting for it.
My granddaughter started at St Ivo in September, like lots of other children, so I am very concerned about the lollipop man or lady or lack of them - me probably more than others.
