SADLY, the Christmas market was cancelled this year, ostensibly on the grounds of safety, because of the dangerous winds early on Sunday morning - but really it was because we have no suitable venue that we could have relocated to.
St Ives is a town to be envied for many things, so in this 21st century it is shameful that we are exposed as pitiful victims of the weather for such a popular event for traders and townsfolk.
The Corn Exchange is the only hall in town that could have fulfilled this need, yet it still sits there in its dilapidated state pleading for a Christmas hand out.
