HEAVEN knows what our French visitors thought when the market came to Godmanchester.
Pages of newspapers and newly-delivered Yellow Pages had been torn up and thrown around Post Street, Cambridge Street and The Causeway.
What a contrast when the traders left - the School Hill was litter-free and their refuse was left neatly stacked in bags alongside the buildings.
No wonder we are now known as the "dustbin of Europe".
