ROCKTECH is one of the UK's biggest and most popular rock schools in the UK, having run 21 previous events over 12 years. The chairman, Paul Maguire, was a contributor for the recent Channel 4 series Rock School and this year will be the first national event they have run, taking young rock musicians from all over the UK. The age limits are 13 to 18. Last year Rocktech hired the Cambridge Corn Exchange, putting on eight bands all formed just one week previously, plus a stunning performance by the instructors. Because of the temporary closure of the Corn Exchange in the summer for refurbishment, this year's end concert will take place at the huge Rockinbeerfest festival, all after the attendees have received their six days tuition. This year has plenty on offer for the youngsters along with forming a band and playing at the gig, as they will be treated to seminars, a studio visit and an evening barbecue. Rocktech 2006 starts on Saturday, August 12, at Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge and places can be booked on 01487 842 879. See www.rocktech.orgRICHARD PAUL
