THE stars of BBC2's Robot Wars paid a visit to Whitehall School in Somersham last week to stimulate the children's innovation and imagination.

Accompanying the robots was their inventor and special effects expert, Rex Garrod, who also created the children's TV character Brum and recently built the new K9 for the current Doctor Who series.

Carl Hutson, headteacher at Whitehall School, said: "We are delighted that the team were able to visit our school. It is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to see technology in action and will hopefully inspire some designers of the future."

Whitehall school is an independent school for children aged three to 11 years and includes pupils from across Cambridgeshire.

Also visiting was Geoff Thorpe who is the director and promoter of Robot Rumble, a show that is to be held at the Wood Green Animal Shelter on December 9-10.
