Roadworks and road closures planned for the week ahead

Highways England has released a list of roadworks and road closures scheduled to take place on the major roads serving Cambridgeshire over the coming week.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements
Work to improve journeys on the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon continues this week with a variety of tasks underway including the installation of plant-crossing points, site surveys, clearing vegetation and installing CCTV, average speed cameras and information signs.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A14 continues this week. Lane two will be closed on both carriageways overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday, March 20, for five nights.

Work to upgrade the verge side safety barrier at the side of the road in two locations around Spaldwick start this week. There will be a temporary 50mph speed limit in place 24 hours a day and at weekends. The slip road at junction 18 (Spaldwick) will be closed from Monday, March 20, for five nights overnight, between 8pm and 6am. Traffic will be diverted to travel to junction 18 and then to return eastbound to junction 18.
A421 Elstow, Bedfordshire: technology installation
Work to improve journeys by installing traffic sensors in the carriageway will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound exit slip road during the day, between 8am and 5pm, on Monday, March 20.
A428 Eltisley, Cambridgeshire; street lighting and road markings
Work to improve journeys by carrying out street lighting maintenance and renewing road markings continues this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, until Friday, March 31.
A1 Georgetown to Sandy, Bedfordshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the A1 southbound takes place this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed between the Black Car and Sandy roundabouts overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday, March 20, for three nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A421 and A603 following the hollow diamond symbol.
A1 Sandy to Black Cat, Bedfordshire: drainage improvements
Work to improve journeys by renewing drainage on the A1 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Monday, March 20, for five nights.
A1 Carpenters Lodge, Cambridge: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing on the northbound slip road starts this week. Access to and from the A1 at the B1140 will be closed, with traffic diverted to the next available junction. The slip road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am on Tuesday, March 21, for one night.
