Highways England has released a list of roadworks and road closures planned for the week ahead.

M1 northbound junction 10, Pepperstock Interchange: technology maintenance

Work to maintain technology assets on the hard shoulder of the M1 northbound at junction 10, Pepperstock Interchange, starts Tuesday 6 November, lasting one day, with working hours of 9am to 4pm. During these works, the entry and exit slips will closed. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

M1 between junctions 10 and 13: vegetation clearance

Vegetation clearance works on the M1 between junctions 10 and 13 starts Monday 5 November, lasting two weeks, weeknights only, with working hours of 9am to 5pm. Single lane closures will be in place during these works.

M11 junctions 10 (Duxford) to 11 (A10): Power cable replacement

Work to replace and upgrade power cables begins on Monday 5 November for two nights. Lane one of the northbound carriageway will be closed at junction 10 between 9pm and 5am. As a consequence of the works, the M11 junction 11 northbound slip road will be reduced to single lane running, also between 9pm and 5am. No diversions required.

M40 junctions 1 to 15: routine maintenance

Routine maintenance works include of slip roads and through junctions with two lanes. Works include sweeping, drainage cleaning, litter picking, vegetation cutting, white lining, street lighting maintenance, defect repair (including street lighting defects), inspection of the assets including structures and safety fence repair.

These works will continue until late November, over subsequent nights from 8pm, with planned re-opening times 7am on weeknights and 8am on weekends.

On Monday 5 November there will be a closure on the northbound exit slip at junction 13 from diverge point with main carriageway to junction with A452/B4100.

Also on the northbound entry slip at junction 14 from junction with A452 to the merge point with the main carriageway

Diversion:

Junction 13 exit slip road users will continue to travel northbound along the M40 and leave at junction 15. Travel right around the roundabout to re-join the M40 southbound and travel southbound to leave at junction 14. Go straight on at the junction to join the A452 and then right at the roundabout to return to junction 13.

Junction 14 entry slip road users will continue around the junction to travel south on the A452, turn right at the roundabout and then left to join the M40 southbound at junction 13, travel south on the M40 and leave at junction 12. Turn left onto the B4451 then left again to re-join the M40 northbound. Travel northbound back to junction 14.

On Wednesday 7 November there will be a closure on the north and southbound entry and exit slip at junction 5 from diverge point with main carriageway to junction with A40.

Diversion:

Exit slip road users will continue to travel northbound along the M40 and leave at junction 6 exit slip. Turn right and right again to re-join the M40 southbound and travel southbound to leave at junction 5 exit slip.

Entry slip road users will join the M40 southbound and travel south to leave the M40 at junction 4 exit slip. Travel right around the roundabout to re-join the M40 northbound. Travel northbound back to junction 5

On Friday 9 November there will be a closure on the north and southbound entry and exit slip at junction 9 from diverge point with main carriageway to roundabout with A34/A41.

Diversion:

Exit slip road users will continue to travel northbound along the M40 and leave at junction 10. Turn right at the first roundabout and then at the junction re-join the M40 southbound and travel southbound to leave at junction 9.

Entry slip road users will continue around junction 9 roundabout to join the M40 southbound and travel south to leave the M40 at junction 8A. Turn right at the first roundabout and right at the next roundabout to re-join the M40 northbound. Travel northbound back to junction 9.

A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairs

Work to repair the flyover at this junction completes this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:

On Sunday 4 November the A428 westbound entry slip will be closed at this junction, with a short diversion around the junction (to the Black Cat roundabout and back), and the A428 eastbound slip road will be closed at this junction with a diversion via the A1 northbound to the next junction (Hail Weston), around and then A1southbound back to the A428 junction.

On Monday 5 November the A1 southbound on slip will be closed at this junction with a diversion via the A1 northbound to the next junction (Hail Weston), around, and then on to the A1 southbound.

A11 Fiveways roundabout Mildenhall: road sign, traffic light, traffic sensing loops, speed enforcement hard standings installation and safety improvements

Work to install road signs, traffic lights, traffic sensing loops, hard standings for mobile speed enforcement and re-lining of the roundabout is underway and due to complete around mid-November. Lane closures will be in place on the Fiveways roundabout rings between 8pm and 6am on weeknights, with no total closures or diversions currently required.

A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

A12 junction 28 to 27, Colchester: Motts Bridge refurbishment

Work to maintain road user safety continues this week. One lane of the junction 27 exit slip road will remain closed 24 hours a day.

A14 eastbound Orwell Bridge, Ipswich: technology maintenance

Work to undertake technology repairs on the Orwell bridge takes place next week. One lane of the eastbound carriageway will be closed each night between 8pm and 6am. No full closures will be required.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

Vehicles will travel east on the A428, north on the A1198, west on the A14 and then north on the A14 link road to re-join the A1

Vehicles will be diverted south on the A14 link road, then east on the A14, south on the A1198 and west on the A428 to re-join the A1

Tuesday 6 to Wednesday 7 November (two nights)

A14 eastbound between St Ives junction 26 and Bar Hill junction 29

Strategic traffic will be diverted south on the A1198, then east on the A428 to re-join the A14.

Local access will be maintained between the strategic diversion and the hard closure

Tuesday 6 to Friday 9 November (four nights)

A14 westbound between junctions 36 and 32

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11.

Non-motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge

A47 Guyhirn: slope stabilisation, vegetation clearance

Works to stabilise the A47 westbound slope has begun and will take about ten weeks. No diversion will be required as we have widened the road at the works site to accommodate two-way traffic where a 40mph speed restriction will be in place.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road, Essex: safety improvements

Construction of the new roundabout to improve road user safety continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed between Horsley Cross roundabout and the junction with the A133 between 9pm and 5am on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the B1035, B1033 and A133.

The Harwich Road junction with the A120 and the central reserve gap by Park Road are now closed.
