Highways England has revealed its latest list of planned roadworks and road closures across the East of England for the week ahead.

M40 junctions 1 to 15: routine maintenance

Routine maintenance works include of slip roads and through junctions with two lanes. Works include sweeping, drainage cleaning, litter picking, vegetation cutting, white lining, street lighting maintenance, defect repair (including street lighting defects), inspection of the assets including structures and safety fence repair.

These works will continue until late November, over subsequent nights from 8pm, with planned re-opening times 7am on weeknights and 8am on weekends.

On Tuesday 23 October there will a closure of the northbound exit and entry slip at junction 4 from diverge point with main carriageway to roundabout with A404.

There will also be a closure on the northbound dedicated entry slip at junction 4 from the diverge point with the A404 to the merge point with the main carriageway.

The diversions will be:

Exit road users will continue to travel northbound along the M40 and leave at junction 5. Turn right and right again to re-join the M40 southbound and travel southbound to leave at junction 4.

Dedicated A404 entry slip road users will continue to junction 4 roundabout, travel around it to join the M40 southbound and leave the M40 at junction 2. Travel right around the roundabout to re-join the M40 northbound. Travel northbound back to junction 4

Entry slip road users will continue around junction 4 roundabout to join the M40 southbound and leave the M40 at junction 2. Travel around the roundabout to re-join the M40 northbound back to junction 4

On Wednesday 24 October there will be a closure on the southbound exit and entry slip at junction 8A from diverge point with main carriageway to roundabout with A418.

The diversions will be:

Exit slip road users will continue to travel southbound along the M40 and leave at junction 6. Turn right and right again to re-join the M40 northbound. Then travel northbound to leave at junction 8A.

Entry slip road users will travel west on the A418 and then turn left to join the A40 south and travel to the M40 junction 8 and re-join the M40

On Saturday 27 October there will be a closure of the southbound exit and entry slip at Warwick Services from diverge point with main carriageway to junction with services road network. No diversion is required.

A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairs

Work to repair the flyover at this junction continues this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:

From Monday 22 to Friday 26 October the A428 westbound entry slip will be closed at this junction, with a short diversion around the junction.

A11 Fiveways roundabout Mildenhall: road sign, traffic light, traffic sensing loops, speed enforcement hard standings installation and safety improvements

Work to install road signs, traffic lights, traffic sensing loops, hard standings for mobile speed enforcement and re-lining of the roundabout is underway and due to complete around mid-November. From Monday 22 October for five weeknights between 8pm and 6am, the A11 southbound from Elveden to Barton Mills will be closed. A clearly signed diversion from Thetford will be in place via London Road, Elveden Road, A134 and A14 before re-joining the A11/A14 at A11 junction 38.

A11 Red Lodge Bypass: road marking renewal

Work to improve road user safety by renewing road markings takes place on Tuesday 23 October between 9pm and 6am. Road users will be diverted via the A134.

A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

A12 junction 28 to 27, Colchester: Motts Bridge refurbishment

Work to maintain road user safety continues this week. One lane of the junction 27 exit slip road will remain closed 24 hours a day.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

For this week, the planned closures are:

Monday 22 to Thursday 25 October (four nights):

A1 northbound between Buckden and Alconbury

Vehicles will travel east on the A428, north on the A1198, west on the A14 and then north on the A14 link road to re-join the A1

A1 southbound between Alconbury and Buckden

Vehicles will be diverted south on the A14 link road, then east on the A14, south on the A1198 and west on the A428 to re-join the A1

Monday 22 October (one night):

A14 eastbound between St Ives junction 26 and Girton junction 31

Strategic traffic will be diverted south on the A1198, then east on the A428 to re-join the A14.

Access for local traffic will be maintained between the hard closure and the strategic diversion

A47 Guyhirn: slope stabilisation, vegetation clearance

Works to stabilise the A47 westbound slope has begun and will take approximately 12 weeks. No diversion will be required as we have widened the road at the works site to accommodate two-way traffic where a 40mph speed restriction will be in place.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road, Essex: safety improvements

The Harwich Road junction with the A120 and the central reserve gap by Park Road are now closed.
