Planned roadworks in the East of England: weekly summary for Monday, February 11 to Sunday, February 17

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week has been issed by Highways England.

A11 between Tuttles Lane and Spooner Row interchanges: resurfacing works

Work to resurface sections of the A11 southbound between Spooner Row and Tuttles Lane interchanges continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am. Works are scheduled to finish Saturday 16 February at 6am. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place directing traffic through Wymondham along the B1172 London Road/Harts Farm Road, between Tuttles Lane Interchange and Spooner Row Interchange.

A11 southbound, Red Lodge to A14 junction 38: inspections

Work to inspect motorway signals along the A11 southbound will take place on Thursday 14 February between 8pm and 6am. The southbound carriageway will be closed between Red Lodge and A14 junction 38 and a clearly signed diversion will be in place via A11, London Road, Elveden Road, A134 and A14.

A12 junction 28, Colchester: bridge inspections

Work to inspect the bridge and a large culvert at junction 28 will take place on Monday 11 February between 8pm and 6am. Both carriageways will be closed and a clearly signed diversion using the off and on slips at junction 28 will be in place on both carriageways.

A12 northbound, junction 32b Ipswich: inspections

Work to inspect motorway signals along the A12 northbound will take place on Tuesday 12 February between 8pm and 6am. The northbound carriageway will be closed at junction 32b and a clearly signed diversion using the off and on slips will be in place.

A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

A12 junctions 26 to 28, Colchester: Motts Bridge refurbishment

Work to refurbish the bridge finishes this week. The northbound carriageway between junctions 26 and 28, including the junction 27 exit slip road, will be closed on Monday between 8pm and 6am. A signed diversion route will be in place the A1124, London Road, Cymbeline Way, Cowdray Avenue and A1232 Ipswich Road.

A12 junction 31 southbound, East Bergholt: sign replacement works

Work to install new roadside signage, technology loop cutting, and soft estate/landscaping maintenance works will take place on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 February, with working hours of 9pm to 5am. A single lane closure on the main carriageway and a full closure of the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 31, East Bergholt will be in place. Traffic wishing to enter or exit at these slip roads will be diverted to the next available junction to turnaround or resume their journey.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is under way. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

FULL CLOSURES

February 11-15 (five nights)

A1 northbound between Buckden and Alconbury

Vehicles will travel east on the A428, north on the A1198, west on the A14 and then north on the A14 link road to re-join the A1

A1 southbound between Alconbury and Buckden

Vehicles will be diverted south on the A14 link road, then east on the A14, south on the A1198 and west on the A428 to re-join the A1

Brampton Road

A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound Fen Ditton junction 34

Motorway traffic will travel south on the M11, east on A505 and north on A11 to re-join the A14. Non motorway traffic will be diverted on local roads through Cambridge M11 junction 14 exit slip.

A14 westbound between Six Mile Bottom junction 36 and Girton junction 31

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge Thursday 14 to Friday 15 (two nights) Buckingway Road/Anderson Road Friday 15 9pm to Monday 18 5am

A1 northbound Brampton village exit and entry slips

A1 southbound Brampton village exit and entry slips

Brampton village will remain accessible via junction 22 of the A14

LANE CLOSURES

February 11-15 (five nights)

A1 northbound between Little Paxton and Buckden, lane 2 closed

A1 southbound between junction 15 and junction 14, lanes 4,3 and 2 closed

A14 westbound between junction 37 and junction 36, lanes 2 and 3 closed

A428 eastbound between Hardwick and Madingley, lane 2 closed

A14 eastbound junction 31 exit slip, lane 1 closed

A14 westbound between junction 31 and junction 29, lane 1 and 2 closed

A47, Thorney bypass: urgent resurfacing works

Work to resurface sections of the A47 Thorney bypass starts Wednesday 13 February, lasting two nights, with working hours of 8pm to 6am. A full closure of the Thorney bypass in both directions will be in place during these works.

Diversion routes

A47 traffic: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place directing traffic through Thorney along Wisbech Road and The Causeway, in both directions.

Local traffic: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place directing local traffic, in both directions, between Thorney and Dogsthorpe/Eye via B1167 New Cut, English Drove, B1443 Bukkehorn Road and the A16/B1040 Crowland Road.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road, Essex: safety improvements

The Harwich Road junction with the A120 and the central reserve gap by Park Road are now closed.
