Planned roadworks in the East of England: weekly summary for today (Monday) to Sunday:

M11 junctions 10 (Duxford) to 11 (A10): Power cable replacement

Work to replace and upgrade power cables begins on Monday for five nights. Lane one of the northbound carriageway will be closed at junction 10 between 9pm and 5am. As a consequence of the works, the M11 junction 11 northbound slip road will be reduced to single lane running, also between 9pm and 5am. No diversions required but expect minor delays.

M40 junctions 1 to 15: routine maintenance

Routine maintenance works include of slip roads and through junctions with two lanes. Works include sweeping, drainage cleaning, litter picking, vegetation cutting, white lining, street lighting maintenance, defect repair (including street lighting defects), inspection of the assets including structures and safety fence repair.

These works will continue until late November, over subsequent nights from 8pm, with planned re-opening times 7am on weeknights and 8am on weekends.

On Tuesday, October 30, there will be a closure on the Southbound exit and entry slip at Junction 4 from diverge point with main carriageway to roundabout with A404.

Diversion:

Exit slip road users will continue to travel southbound along the M40 and leave at Junction 2 exit slip. Travel right around the roundabout to re-join the M40 northbound. Then travel northbound to leave at Junction 4 exit slip.

Entry slip road users will continue around Junction 4 roundabout to join the M40 northbound and leave the M40 at Junction 5 exit slip. Turn right and right again to re-join the M40 southbound and travel back to Junction 4

On Thursday, November 1, there will be a closure on the North and Southbound main carriageway from Junction 4 diverge point with exit slip to Junction 4 merge point with entry slip.

Diversion:

Northbound road users will leave M40 at Junction 4 northbound exit slip and travel around Junction 4 roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 4 northbound entry slip.

Southbound road users will Leave M40 at Junction 4 southbound exit slip and travel around Junction 4 roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 4 southbound entry slip.

On Friday, November 2, there will be a closure on the North and Southbound main carriageway from Junction 8a diverge point with exit slip to Junction 8a merge point with entry slip.

Diversion:

Northbound road users will leave M40 at Junction 8a northbound exit slip and travel around Junction 8a roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 8a northbound entry slip.

Southbound road users will leave M40 at Junction 8a southbound exit slip and travel around Junction 8a roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 8a southbound entry slip.

A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairs

Work to repair the flyover at this junction continues this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:

On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 October the A428 westbound entry slip will be closed at this junction, with a short diversion around the junction (to Black Cat roundabout and back).

On Sunday 4 November the A428 westbound entry slip will be closed at this junction, with a short diversion around the junction (to Black Cat roundabout and back), and the A428 eastbound will be closed at this junction with a diversion via A1 northbound to next junction (Hail Weston), around and then A1southbound back to the A428 junction.

A11 Fiveways roundabout Mildenhall: road sign, traffic light, traffic sensing loops, speed enforcement hard standings installation and safety improvements

Work to install road signs, traffic lights, traffic sensing loops, hard standings for mobile speed enforcement and re-lining of the roundabout is underway and due to complete around mid-November. From Monday 29 October for five weeknights between 8pm and 6am, the A11 northbound from A14 junction 38 to Elveden will be closed. A clearly signed diversion from A14 junction 38 will be in place via A14 and A134 before re-joining the A11 at Thetford.

A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs

An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

A12 junction 28 to 27, Colchester: Motts Bridge refurbishment

Work to maintain road user safety continues this week. One lane of the junction 27 exit slip road will remain closed 24 hours a day.

A14 eastbound Orwell Bridge, Ipswich: technology maintenance

Work to undertake technology repairs on the Orwell Bridge eastbound starts Tuesday 30 October, lasting one night, with working hours of 8pm and 6am, weather permitting. A full closure on the A14 eastbound between junctions 56 and 57 will be in place during these works. A clearly signed diversion route will be in via A14 junction 55 Copdock Interchange, A1214 to Martlesham, A12 southbound, before re-joining the A14 at junction 58 Seven Hills Interchange.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

A1 northbound between Buckden and Alconbury

Vehicles will travel east on the A428, north on the A1198, west on the A14 and then north on the A14 link road to re-join the A1

A1 southbound between Alconbury and Buckden

Vehicles will be diverted south on the A14 link road, then east on the A14, south on the A1198 and west on the A428 to re-join the A1

M11 junction 14 exit slip

A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound junction 33

Motorway traffic will travel south on the M11, east on A505 and north on A11 to re-join the A14. Non motorway traffic will be diverted on local roads through Cambridge.

A14 westbound between junctions 36 and 31

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11.

Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge

Vehicles wishing to access Brampton village from the A1 southbound will be required to exit the A1 at Brampton Hut, leave the A14 at junction 22 and enter Brampton via the B1514. To travel south from Brampton village, the diversion will be the reverse.

Saturday 3 (one night)

A14 eastbound between St Ives junction 26 and Bar Hill junction 29

Strategic traffic will be diverted south on the A1198, then east on the A428 to re-join the A14.

Access for local traffic will be maintained between the hard closure and the strategic diversion

Sunday 4 (one night)

A14 westbound between junction 31 and junction 27

Vehicles will be diverted west on the A428 then north on the A1198 to re-join the A14 at Godmanchester.

Local access will be maintained between the strategic diversion and the hard closure

A47 Guyhirn: slope stabilisation, vegetation clearance

Works to stabilise the A47 westbound slope has begun and will take approximately 11 weeks. No diversion will be required as we have widened the road at the works site to accommodate two-way traffic where a 40mph speed restriction will be in place.

A120 Hare Green roundabout, Harwich Road, Essex: safety improvements

Construction of the new roundabout to improve road user safety continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed between Horsley Cross roundabout and the junction with the A133 between 9pm and 5am from Wednesday 31 October. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the B1035, B1033 and A133.

The Harwich Road junction with the A120 and the central reserve gap by Park Road are now closed.
