PARENTS are being urged by police not to let their children jump in to the river Great Ouse in St Neots.
The warning was issued after reports of youngsters jumping from the locks at Little Paxton and Eaton Socon when the weather has been fine.
Pc Andy Shaw said: "These people are taking incredible risks and I would urge them not to play daredevil in this way. They not only face the risk of drowning in the river, but they usually don't know what depth the water is and what may be on the river bed to cause injury."
He added that parents should ensure they know where their children are playing and warn them about the risks if jumping into the river.
Pc Shaw added: "I fully understand the temptation but I want to avoid a tragedy.
