ST NEOTS townsfolk are being urged to have their say on a £680,000 safety scheme for the town.
The plan, aimed at reducing accidents and improving cycling facilities between the Priory Centre and the railway station, is a response to 69 injury accidents in the past five years, involving 22 pedestrians, one of whom died.
Cambridgeshire County Council's six-week consultation begins with a two-day exhibition today (Wednesday) and tomorrow at the Priory Centre.
The plans include an off-road cycle route for much of the way between the station and the Priory and safer facilities for the on-road part of the route.
There are also proposals for cameras to monitor vehicles passing red traffic lights, a 20mph speed restriction on the High Street, raised platforms at pelican crossings on the High Street and other speed limiting measures.
Construction is planned for early autumn 2006.
