AS I was crossing Huntingdon High Street on my way home with Charlie, my greyhound, he seemed to lose his footing on the kerb of the pavement just outside Jayes the newsagents.
He stumbled backwards and his foot went down the drain and got stuck.
Since I had left my phone at home, a lady passing by asked if there was anyone she could phone for me.
She was unable to get through to the vet, so she walked round to the Cromwell veterinary surgery to get help, for which I was very grateful.
I would like to thank her and all the people who offered to help or asked if help was on the way.
A vet and receptionist came running to the rescue and managed to free Charlie's foot.
Luckily, there was no damage and he was soon back to his old self.
