WITH regard to your story (August 15) covering the tragic drowning of a young man at Hartford Marina, your report gave the impression that no assistance was offered to the couple until the emergency services arrived. This was not the case.
In fact, three brave individuals leapt into the murky waters within seconds of hearing the woman's cries for assistance, and spent a considerable amount of time assisting the woman and searching for the missing man, unfortunately to no avail.
These individuals wasted no time thinking about their own safety and were all left traumatised by the event. They deserve to be praised, as without their assistance there could quite probably have been a double tragedy.
